Ka Ni Kanichihk Inc. is a nonprofit, community based, Indigenous-led human services organization that provides a range of Indigenous identified programs and services focusing on wholeness, wellness, and building on the strengths and resilience of the Indigenous People.

The Opportunity:

The Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of the program objectives; including the planning, implementation and monitoring of program services, and overseeing the day-to-day management of the program and program staff.  The candidate will also have experience in program coordination, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, providing creative leadership, mentorship and support to a staff team (including contract staff) and serving as a primary contact for the Leading Black Wolf program.

What You Will Be Doing…

  • Responsible for all facets of program management and implementation, including planning, budgeting, evaluation and reporting
  • Recruiting, retaining and developing relationships with program participants
  • Maintain accurate and complete statistical records for the program
  • Ensure consistent and meaningful evaluation of the program is carried out
  • Participate in hiring process, including conducting staff orientation activities
  • Engage in on-going supervision of all program staff
  • Conduct regular performance reviews with program team members, providing constructive feedback and direction as to improvement
  • Actively participating in management of the program, attending meetings regularly and bringing forward issues for discussion and decision
  • Maintain awareness and establish essential linkages and networks with community resources to support the program
  • Prepare presentations, briefing notes, and progress reports for the Executive Director, Council, Advisory Committee and funding bodies as required
  • Prepare quarterly progress reports and annual reports for the Ka Ni Kanichihk Inc. Council and funding bodies as required
  • To perform other related tasks as required by the program to ensure its successful completion

You Have:

  • A valid Manitoba driver’s license, clear driver’s abstract, and access to a vehicle
  • A recent (as of the past six months) Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector, and Child Abuse Registry Check completed
  • A University degree or certification in a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant post-secondary education, experience, and training
  • An understanding of community centered resources and system navigation
  • Strong organizational skills, excellent communication, both written and oral, and professionalism
  • An understanding of wrap-around and community-centered approaches as well as trauma-informed practices
  • Ethical principles, along with a commitment to staff and participant confidentiality
  • A commitment to cultural reclamation and traditional healing practices
  • You are prepared to work 40 hours a week with flexible hours
  • Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, First Aid, CPR, and Food Handlers (not required, but considered an asset)
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office 360 suite
