The Opportunity:

The Mino Pimatisiwin Sexual Wellness Lodge is seeking someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to provide administrative and medical assistant support. Reporting to the Program Manager, you will act as a receptionist for clients and service providers, maintain supply inventories using a standardized checklist, perform a variety of clerical support functions and maintain site organization. You will contribute to a kind and respectful work environment and participate in workload sharing and coverage within the team.

What You Will Be Doing…

  • Site coordination by managing appointments and schedules in the record keeping systems of the Lodge
  • Acting as the first point of contact for clients, visitors, and service providers
  • Participate in client care relations and maintain a high-quality of care throughout
  • Maintain client charts and databases alongside inventories and resources for the site
  • Ensure the leadership team is supported with ad hoc projects and reporting per request
  • Act as a champion of human rights based approaches to health and healthcare, and understand the social determinants of health care
  • Exceptional skills in creating and maintaining caring, kind relationships with all kinds of people
  • Connection to Indigenous communities via kinship ties, relationship building, and or other relational ties
  • Delegating, sorting and administering communications such as email, phone, photocopying and faxing
  • Collaborating as a team member within a two-eyed seeing space
  • Plan, organize, and execute a high volume workload and meeting deadlines
  • Working somewhat independently, with minimal supervision

You Have:

  • One (1+) years of related healthcare experience required, a combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Completion of a Unit Clerk Course and/or a Medical Office Assistant Course, High school education or equivalent under Manitoba standards
  • One (1+) years of data entry and clerical experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience maintaining medical records, understanding medical terminology, compiling statistics and processing personal health information
  • Understanding and awareness of HIV, Hepatitis C, STBBI’s, and Harm Reduction methods
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, understanding PHIA regulations
  • A valid Manitoba driver’s license, clear driver’s abstract, and access to a vehicle
  • A recent (as of the past six months) Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector, and Child Abuse Registry Check completed
  • Basic Cardiac Life Saving Certificate
  • Strong organizational skills, excellent communication, both written and oral, and professionalism
  • An understanding of wrap-around and community-centered approaches as well as trauma-informed practices
  • Ethical principles, along with a commitment to staff and participant confidentiality
  • A commitment to cultural reclamation and traditional healing practices
  • You are prepared to work 40 hours a week with flexible hours
  • Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, First Aid, CPR, and Food Handlers (not required, but considered an asset)
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office 360 suite
