Ka Ni Kanichihk Launches First-Ever Golf Classic & Seeks Community Sponsors

WINNIPEG, MB- Ka Ni Kanichihk is proud to announce the 1st Annual Ka Ni Kanichihk Golf Classic, taking place on Friday, August 14 at The Players Golf Course.

As Ka Ni Kanichihk’s first-ever golf tournament, the event will bring together businesses, community leaders, partners, and supporters for a day for connection and community impact. Funds raised through the Golf Classic will help strengthen programs and services at Ka Ni Kanichihk, including supports for Indigenous children, youth, adults, families, and Velma’s House.

The idea for the tournament was spearheaded by Everrett Findley, Mentor with Ka Ni Kanichihk’s Leading Black Wolf program, who saw an opportunity to create a new annual event that would strengthen community while supporting Indigenous-led programming.

“I was inspired to start an annual golf tournament at Ka Ni Kanichihk because I have seen how successful community events can bring people together to support important causes,” said Findley.

“Golf is unique in that the sport encourages conversation, relationship building, and networking, making it an ideal way to connect businesses, organizations, and community members in support of Ka Ni Kanichihk.”

Sponsorship Opportunities

Businesses and organizations are invited to become sponsors of the inaugural event. Sponsorship opportunities include:

  • Title Sponsor ($10,000): Exclusive presenting sponsor with premier event recognition.
  • Major Sponsor ($5,000): Prominent branding and recognition throughout the tournament.
  • Golf Cart Sponsor ($5,000): Exclusive branding featured on tournament golf carts.
  • Putting Contest Sponsor ($1,500): Recognition as the exclusive sponsor of the putting contest.
  • Single Hole Sponsor ($1,200): Opportunity to engage golfers and showcase your organization at a dedicated hole.
  • Hole-in-One Challenge Sponsor: Exclusive sponsorship of the tournament’s featured challenge hole.
  • Silent Auction Prize Donors: Help enhance the participant experience through donated prizes and auction items.

As the first-ever Golf Classic, sponsors have a unique opportunity to help establish what Ka Ni Kanichihk hopes will become a long-standing community tradition.

“My hope is that this tournament not only raises funds for our programs and services, but also grows into an annual tradition that strengthens partnerships and creates lasting impact within our community,” said Findley.
