Permanent, Part-time (approx. 24 hours per week, day shifts from Monday to Friday, weekends & evenings as needed)
Salary/Wage: $20 – $23 an hour

Ka Ni Kanichihk Inc. is a nonprofit, community-based, Indigenous-led human services organization that provides a range of Indigenous-identified programs and services that focus on the wholeness, wellness, and building on the strengths and resilience of Indigenous People.

About the Role:

Our team of Community Hosts welcome our relatives visiting Mino Pimatisiwin Sexual Wellness Lodge by providing a warm, inclusive, and safe environment. We provide resources and information to community members with a clear commitment to sex positivity, cultural safety, and gender diversity. As a Community Host, you will walk alongside relatives seeking information about their sexual health, STBBI testing, and provide information on clinical and community resources.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Welcoming all community members to the Mino Pimatisiwin Sexual Wellness Lodge (MPSWL)
  • Providing sex-positive, gender-inclusive, and culturally-safe care and support
  • Contributing to the overall experience curated within MPSWL by ensuring all members are supported, heard and respected
  • Collecting necessary information from participants
  • Facilitating respondent-driven chain referral processes
  • Providing ongoing peer support and education
  • Managing the community space, ensuring items are stocked and organized
  • Providing programming support as required
  • Assisting Kookums and Knowledge Keepers as required
  • Participating in pipe ceremonies, sharing circles, and other ceremonies held onsite

What You Bring:

  • Relevant post-secondary education, or combination of education and relevant experience;
  • Knowledge base of traditional Indigenous culture, spirituality and traditions is required;
  • Demonstrated ability working in sex positive, harm reduction, trauma informed, anti-racist and decolonizing environments;
  • Knowledge of local community resources
  • Knowledge in community development and advocacy
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office, digital communication software and ability to learn new record-keeping programs;
  • A valid driver’s license; access to a vehicle considered an asset
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required
