Community Solstice Dinner

December 19, 2025
Our annual Winter Solstice gathering at Ka Ni Kanichihk on December 19th, 2025, brought community together for a day of warmth, connection, and celebration. Community members were welcomed into our building to enjoy a delicious holiday feast, while Santa and Mrs. Claus joined us to take photos with children and hand out candy bags, adding joy for our youngest guests.
The day began with the lighting of the Sacred Fire at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Pipe Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. The fire was kept burning throughout the day for those who wished to offer tobacco ties.
To accommodate as many community members as possible, two meal seatings were offered at 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. respectively. Staff worked in shifts throughout the day, supporting one another as they served meals, welcomed guests, and cared for the space.
With music filling the room and staff doing what we do best- serving our community- it was the perfect way to close out 2025.
