We’re looking for a Manager of Special Projects to join our team! This role is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves planning, organizing, and leading meaningful initiatives. You’ll report to the Executive Director and the Director of Programs and Services, and work closely with our operational team to support projects that respond to community needs, values, and priorities.  As a confident and compassionate leader, you’re someone who can take an idea and turn it into action. Whether it’s developing a new community program, leading a time-limited initiative, or stepping in to support ad-hoc projects, you’ll make sure things get done — thoughtfully, on time, and in a good way.

What You Will Be Doing…

  • Leading Special Projects: Plan, organize, and oversee a variety of projects from start to finish — making sure goals, timelines, and budgets are met.
  • Supporting Staff and Teams: Supervise staff or team members connected to your projects, offer mentorship, and make sure everyone understands their role and responsibilities.
  • Working with Leadership: Be part of our operational team, helping to guide decision-making and support the big picture.
  • Sharing Progress: Prepare updates, reports, and presentations for our leadership, funders, and partners.
  • Creating New Opportunities: Help identify new project ideas based on community needs, and design creative, culturally respectful responses.
  • Making Sure We Meet Standards: Keep an eye on reporting, licensing, and compliance requirements so everything runs smoothly.
  • Hiring and Supporting Staff: Help recruit, train, and support project staff while creating a positive and healthy work environment.
  • Managing Budgets: Plan and track project spending, making sure everything stays within budget.
  • Building Relationships: Connect and collaborate with community partners, service agencies, and funders to support shared goals.
  • Helping Where Needed: Support other one-time or short-term projects as they come up.

What You Bring:

  • A combination of continued education after high school and relevant work experience.
  • 2-3 years of direct management or supervisory experience.
  • Experience planning and delivering programs or projects, ideally in a non-profit or community-based setting.
  • Understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and values.
  • Comfortable with budgeting, funding agreements, and other project-related documents.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, including trauma-informed approaches.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel, Outlook and social media platforms.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including sound judgment and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
