Program Overview

Are you involved in, or would like to be involved in educational programs offered by Ka Ni Kanichihk but have children to worry about? The Medicine Children’s Lodge may be able to help.

Children who are raised by their grandparents are considered “medicine” because their very presence continues to challenge, inspire and motivate.

The Medicine Children’s Lodge is a childcare facility licensed by the province of Manitoba. We are licensed for four infants (12 weeks – 2 years of age) and for twelve preschool (two to five years old) children. Care is primarily available for children of those who are involved in Ka Ni Kanichihk educational programs.

We have professionally trained and certified Early Childhood Educators and Child Care Assistants on staff, who plan and implement age-appropriate activities for the children on a daily basis. We strive to incorporate all Seven Sacred Teachings and the Medicine Wheel Philosophy into our daily programming.

Program Focus

We are committed to providing a safe, healthy and nurturing environment for the children and their families. Children have the opportunity to participate in cultural activities and outings in addition to exploring these concepts in the childcare setting. We provide a positive learning environment for the children that is responsive to the individual needs of each child. Children are given opportunities for learning through play and active exploration of their environment. Each child is treated as an individual and their contributions are valued.
