Congratulations to the 2024 MIYAA Recipients!
November 20, 2024 – We would like to congratulate this year’s recipients of the Manitoba Indigenous Youth Achievement Awards (MIYAA). The 30th annual MIYAA gala took place on Wednesday, November 20 at the Victoria Inn Hotel and Convention Centre in Winnipeg.
We are proud to highlight the achievements of two award recipients who are former participants in Ka Ni Kanichihk programs.
Phoenix River Harper is a 2024 MIYAA award recipient in the Junior category for Community and Volunteerism. Harper is a past participant of Leading Black Wolf. Harper said it was ‘truly an honour’ to receive the award with so many peers, program staff, and family members in attendance.
Aiden Mason is a 2024 MIYAA award recipient in the Cultural Male category. Mason is a former participant of Restoring the Sacred.
We are heartened in knowing we had some small part in supporting these individuals in their journey toward becoming positive influences and leaders in their communities. Miigwetch for all you have contributed to our community, and congratulations. We look forward to seeing where your journeys lead next.
