Systems Navigator – Huddle



Full Time (40 hours per week)
Monday – Friday 11:00 am – 7:00pm
One Saturday a month is required

The Opportunity

The Systems Navigator plays a key role in creating a welcoming, supportive, and culturally safe environment for youth accessing services within our drop-in space at Huddle. This position works alongside youth to identify their goals, navigate complex systems, and connect to meaningful supports that promote wellness, stability, belonging, and self-determination. As a trusted support person, the Systems Navigator builds meaningful relationships with youth (12 – 29 years of age) and walks alongside them as they access services related to housing, education, employment, healthcare, mental health, cultural connections, income supports, legal systems, and other community resources.

What You Will Be Doing

Create a welcoming, non-judgmental, and inclusive environment for youth accessing Huddle
Build trusting relationships through consistent presence, active listening, and genuine care
Engage youth in conversations about their goals, strengths, interests, and support needs
Support youth in identifying barriers and developing plans that align with their priorities
Participate in drop-in programming, community activities, and cultural events
Assist youth in navigating systems including housing, healthcare, education, employment, income assistance, justice, child and family services, and community resources
Support youth in completing applications, forms, referrals, and appointments
Accompany youth to appointments when appropriate
Advocate alongside youth to reduce barriers and increase access to services
Collaborate with service providers to coordinate supports and ensure continuity of care
Connect youth to cultural teachings, ceremonies, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and traditional wellness supports
Promote opportunities for youth leadership, skill development, and community involvement

Who You Are

You are passionate about supporting young people and believe in their strengths, resilience, and ability to achieve their goals. You are relationship-focused, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. You may have lived experience as a youth that had to navigate systems and are solution-focused in problem solving.

You Have:

Training in Child and Youth Care, Community Development, Indigenous Studies, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Experience working with youth in community-based, outreach, drop-in, or social service settings.
Knowledge of community resources and support systems available to youth.
Understanding of trauma-informed, harm reduction, strength-based, and culturally safe practices.
Strong advocacy, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, teachings, and community resources is an asset.
CPR/First Aid certification is an asset.
Valid Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check satisfactory to the organization.
Valid Driver’s License Class 5F is required, access to a reliable vehicle is an asset
